Hot August Nights for Timothy at two of the toughest tracks on the circuit.
It’s been an exciting few days for Timothy here in the middle of August. On Saturday, August 14th, he tamed the famed “Lady in Black” at Darlington Raceway in SC by putting the # 17 Red Horse Racing team’s Toyota Tundra on the pole and racing to a 2nd place finish. It was a superb effort considering that he hadn’t raced at this historic track but he handled it like a seasoned veteran leading for 47 laps and fighting his way to the front. Timothy with the livery of the Apex Tool Group adorning the #17 Tundra posted his fifth consecutive top-10 finish dating back to July at Gateway International Speedway.
Just 4 short days later on Wednesday, August 18th, Timothy and the #17 Red Horse Racing team visited the hills of Tennessee to take on Bristol Motor Speedway’s “Thunder Valley” for 200 laps around the action packed half mile. Timothy had a solid qualifying effort starting the #17 Toyota Tundra in 7th position. Timothy demonstrated the strength of the #17 Wiss Toyota Tundra by putting it out front for 20 laps early in the race. Unfortunately, on lap 164 with Timothy moving forward and holding down the second spot, the third place truck made contact with him on the backstretch and turned Timothy into the outside wall, ruining his chance for a victory. Timothy was determined to not let the frustrating incident ruin an otherwise good night and charged back through the field to finish in 8th place. His finish continued the streak of top-10 finishes and allowed him to maintain third in the points chase.
Timothy and the #17 Red Horse Racing team head to the Windy City’s Chicagoland Speedway in Illinois for the next event on Friday night, August 27th for the EnjoyIllinois.com 225. The race will be televised live on SPEED Channel at 9:00pm EDT. There are 9 races left on the schedule so be sure to check back with us.
